The Mummy MOT is a comprehensive 1 hour post natal assessment including:
• Full Postural Screen
• Pelvic Floor muscle assessment
• Abdominal muscle examination to check for any separation
• Screening for bladder, bowel or sexual dysfunction
It may be that you have recovered well but are keen to get back into activities such as running, climbing, cycling or hiking but you would like to know how to further strengthen your body and reduce the risk of injury. Over the longer term, ongoing weakness in your abdominal muscles or pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy can cause decreased core strength, leading to possible pelvic or back pain, or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. For some mums, they are actually holding their pevlic floor muscles too tightly which can also contribute to pain. It is vital for you to know whether your pelvic floor muscles are working properly.
After the assessment you will receive a written report of the findings of your assessment, along with a bespoke rehabilitation programme and relevant information on how to reduce your symptoms. Further follow up sessions can be arranged to suit your goals and requirements whether this is once a week or once a month.
